A live version of Desired Place performed at Cafe Oto, London, 13/5/18. The performance of Desired Place is made up of three piano pieces (one previously unreleased) that are interspersed with improvisations for zither, tape loops, circuit bent electronics and effects. I was joined by Conny Prantera who created live visual for the performance that night.

Desired Place was created using electric piano, loops and effects after an attempted suicide in 2014. It focuses on a dark period of my life; yet allows for a feeling of calm, hope and optimism.

It’s like the fascination of watching a ‘plane arc slowly across a blue sky, or tracking a tiny snail inching across the garden path. So much so that when gorgeous, flowing melodies break across the gloomy surfaces of ‘Part IV’, the rapture that’s engendered is almost psychedelic. Is this the desired place hinted at by Judkins’ title, a place of consolation and recovery that follows the crawl through the abyss? In any case, coming after the monochrome numbness of what’s gone before, it’s a move that can’t help but thrill."
